Jakku Tattoo questions

Here are some frequently asked Jakku Tattoo questions that will help you gain insight into our shop’s operations and provide essential instructions for tattoo aftercare.

What is the shop phone number for Jakku Tattoo?

We’ve intentionally chosen not to have a shop phone, and I’d love to share our perspective with you.

At Jakku Tattoo, our primary focus is on creating exceptional tattoo art for our clients. When our talented artists are in the zone, we want to ensure they’re fully immersed in their craft. Having a phone would only serve as a distraction, potentially taking away from the quality and attention they give to each tattoo.

Now, let’s talk about walk-ins. Jakku Tattoo isn’t your typical walk-in shop. Instead, we operate by appointment only. Each of our artists has their own unique tattoo style, and we encourage you to explore their portfolios. If you’re seeking a custom tattoo experience that resonates with your personal taste, connecting directly with the artist is the way to go.

So, if you’re ready to embark on a creative journey and want a tattoo that reflects your individuality, feel free to explore our tattoo portfolios and choose your artist! We’re passionate about turning your ideas into beautiful inked realities!

How do I go about getting a tattoo from you guys?

At Jakku Tattoo, each artist operates independently. Feel free to explore our portfolio pages to discover their unique styles. Once you’ve selected an artist, follow the contact method specified on their page. From there, the artist will provide details about their availability, pricing, and policies. Don’t hesitate to ask any questions you may have.

Do you do piercings or sell body jewelry?

While we specialize in tattoos, unfortunately, we do not offer piercing services.

How do I care for my tattoo afterward? Frequently Asked Questions about Tattoo Aftercare.

The following aftercare is a general recommendation. Your artist may have suggested another method or altered this one. There is no perfect solution for healing a tattoo as circumstances are different for everyone and for every healing experience.

Chris Moniz has a general aftercare example that can be found on his personal website.

Bandage

Leave the bandage on until you get home. This ensures that your tattoo is protected until you get to a safe environment. It is not recommended to have an exposed tattoo in a public place on the day of your tattoo session. If you have pets that sleep in your bed, you might want to leave the bandage on overnight.

After the Bandage is Removed

When the bandage is removed wash the tattoo with a gentle and fragrant free wash such as Cetaphil (found at drug stores or supermarkets with drug stores in them). We like this product because it is non-comedogenic (does not block skin pores). Another good product is Spectro-gel. For the next two days, only wash your tattoo so as to give it time to heal without moisturizer. This will allow your tattoo to stay slightly drier because having a tattoo that is too moist can cause scabbing or infection.

Washing your Tattoo

It is recommended that you wash your tattoo at least twice per day. If there is any weeping or wetness on your tattoo after washing, blot it with a clean paper towel. Your tattoo could experience weeping even 20 minutes after washing. In some instances, the weeping can be clear or the colour of the tattoo pigment. This is normal.

During the two week healing period, do not submerge your tattoo such as in a bath or pool. Do not use Saunas. When you shower keep the water at a comfortable temperature (not too hot) and keep your shower times efficient. The last thing you wash during a shower is your tattoo.

Moisturizing your Tattoo

Tattoos tend to have a more successful heal when they are as moist as your natural skin or slightly drier. Over-moisturizing the tattoo could lead to the softening of the area which, when exposed to air, can then lead to a thick scabbing. Keep in mind that bacteria likes warm and moist environments! The idea is to have the top healing layers flake off instead. We recommend that you do not use any moisturizing products unless the tattoo becomes very dry or really itchy.

You can moisturize your tattoo only when it is necessary to. This is when the tattoo looks a lot drier than your regular skin and is very itchy. Do not use a lot of moisturizer and massage it in so that there is not a layer of it on your tattoo. Cetaphil or Spectro-gel also have moisturizing products. Do not moisturize your tattoo right away. Give the tattoo some healing time before you moisturize.

Healing Time

A tattoo generally takes about a week or two to heal but can take longer in areas where the ink is saturated in the skin. It is not uncommon for the tattooed area to still feel sensitive even after a two week period.
